Sound of the river - for a reason
Although Vangelis was born and raised in a big city, he spent a lot of time in nature doing outdoor activities all through his childhood. Once he got older, he moved out to the countryside to live close to the mountains.
I can hear the roaring sound from the river and I know I’m not far from a well-deserved break. I travel here, to the Voidomatis river on most weekends for a day or two in the wilderness. I’m hungrier than normal today and the louder the river gets the louder my stomach screams for food. I’ve packed some local sausages and other ingredients for my lunch and I cannot wait to unpack my Mimer Stove and get my food going. I always carry the Mimer Stove with me – my adventure buddy – as it’s lightweight and easy to use and I will never forget making an espresso in -30° C during a snowstorm in the Arctic Circle some years ago.
Finally here. I’m alone and I sit down to enjoy the moment. For me, hiking mountains and camping near rivers are the ultimate experiences. I light up the stove, start cooking and eat while thinking about the greatness of nature. I believe that nature helps us to discover our real selves, our strengths and weaknesses and also to maintain our mental and physical health. And so, I always hike back feeling both mentally and physically stronger, and of course filled with good food.
